Guardianship
Guardianship, also known as "Guardian of the Person", is part of our health-oriented Care Management offerings. Establishing guardianship is a process wherein a person (“guardian”) is chosen and court-ordered to care for an incapacitated adult who cannot properly or completely care for themselves. This process ensures the health-related caregiver is competent for and compatible with the protected person.Inherent Law Group helps families establish designated guardians in advance to avoid the confusion of scrambling for an otherwise-qualified individual at the time of a crisis. This ensures the continuity of care especially during health challenges.

We differentiate Care Management's Guardianship (caregiver of the person) from Estate Management's Conservatorship (manager of the money). Also, terminology varies from state to state.

Guardian Responsibilities
The Guardianship Services of Inherent Law Group help establish guardians to perform vital roles for the benefit of the protected person. We further support the protected person by providing outside accountability throughout the process. Guardians are typically responsible for making many healthcare-related decisions including:
- Diet and nutrition
- Hygiene and daily needs
- Safety and overall wellbeing
- Housing and living arrangements
Guardians are also responsible for protecting the individual from harm, abuse, exploitation or self-neglect.
